- Optical fiber: Core medium for light transmission, divided into single-mode and multi-mode types

- Strength member: Made of steel wire or glass fiber, for tensile resistance
- Loose tube: Protects optical fibers and improves bending resistance
- Inner & outer sheath: Wear-resistant, sun-proof and anti-corrosive
Two Main Types of Optical Fiber
1. Single-mode Optical Fiber (99% used in engineering projects)
- Models: G.652D (most widely used), G.655
- Operating wavelength: 1310nm / 1550nm
- Features: Long transmission distance, low attenuation, high bandwidth
- Application: Main lines, base stations, OLT and transmission equipment
2. Multi-mode Optical Fiber
Applied only for short-distance transmission such as internal machine room network and building weak current system, rarely used in communication backbone networks.
